High Achiever

High Achiever

By: Tiffany Jenkins

The book High Achiever by Tiffany Jenkins, is truly an inspiring and moving book. Tiffany shares her story about addiction and recovery in the most truthful and raw way. It allows you to see the story behind the walls of addiction.

This book had me living right along with her in the moment. Tiffany’s style of writing is raw and moving, when she writes about feeling anxious, I physically feel anxious with her. When she writes that she is laughing till her stomach hurts, I found myself laughing out loud along with her.  Weather you know or have experience with addictions you will find inspiration and relatable moments within these words. Tiffany adds such emotion, humor, realness and vulnerability within the pages of this book, that keeps you inspired and intrigued until the end.

From page one till the end I found myself cheering Tiffany on. The detail in this book is what kept me invested. The story was written with so much detail that really enables you to be brought right inside the pages of this book. The inspiration within these words will touch everyone that reads it. It talks about the back and forth of what addiction looks like, the honest feelings of shame and guilt and turning those feelings into strength and passion. Even if you don’t have relatable moments within this book, the strength Tiffany must have had to write such a vulnerable book is inspiration enough.

I highly recommend this book to everyone and I will most likely read it again and again when I need inspiration in my life to find some strength within in myself.

“But just because I wanted to get high doesn’t mean I had to. So, I didn’t, no matter how hard it got; I kept going because I knew wonderful things were waiting for me.”- Tiffany Jenkins; High Achiever; The Incredible True Story of One Addict’s Double Life

A bit about the girl.

Who am I? And why am I putting my time into writing about books?

Well to begin my name is Cora, I have a not so tiny human, who makes me a mother. I am also a mother of 3 geckos and 2 cats. By day I work with youth who have mental health in the social service field. By night aside from being a mom, I am a book lover, hopeless romantic and a girl who has always loved writing. I am well known for always reading, I always have a book on the go whether it’s a book I have read a hundred times or a new book I have never read before.

In my not so nice childhood I found passion and happiness in two things reading and music. However, when I wanted to explore my passions in a more creative way I had to decide which passion to take on in a creative way. To be truthful on a scale of 1 to 10, my singing ability or anything to do musically isn’t even a number on the scale, so with that I moved on to the next passion, reading is where I thrive creatively.

First, I just read and wrote about the books for myself, then I started writing a novel, just for fun. Once I wanted to take this to the next step I started looking up blogs, as it seemed like the natural next step. I enjoy sharing my reviews of books with my friends and thought I might enjoy it on a bigger scale.

My hope for this is to recommend some great books and to help people feel inspired to read. My hope is to do this with a witty, humour, honest and at times sarcastic words.

I hope you enjoy and comment!
